Meet Sandra, Founder of Ellescope

Sandra is a passionate biomedical engineer with significant experience in health technologies, from proof-of-concept generation to implementation into healthcare systems. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Oxford and a MEng from Queen Mary University of London. She is currently a part-time Consultant in diagnostic technologies at the World Health Organisation and 2024/25 NHS Clinical Entrepreneur. Sandra shared with us what she is working on and the heart behind it. “Ellescope is on a mission to close the data intelligence gap in perinatal health through clinical assessment technology.  Through GE, I was matched to mentor Paul Harvey since the summer of 2025, and he has been incredibly supportive of me.   The mentoring and coaching I received have made a great difference.  Paul and I have had a chance to critically evaluate my team with respect to roles and positioning in the company. Paul kindly recommended legal counsel to support with investment readiness preparations, which I have taken up. He has also provided feedback on my pitch deck and ideas on how to captivate the audience. This has enabled me to deliver a strong pitch at events and will go a long way at engaging stakeholders and future investors. I have had a few standout moments during my mentorship. The first was when my mentor recommended a specific book, as a strategic tool for engaging healthcare decision-makers, and the second was about ideas he sparked for optimal pitch delivery.  An encouragement I would share with someone starting out would be to surround yourself with people who have a similar fire to create positive change, build inner confidence in your mission by unpicking the problem and proceed when you have satisfied yourself with answers.”
