Coffee passion

BEAR was conceived out of a shared passion for good coffee, good people and good times. Founded by lifelong friends, Craig and Michael, the idea began whilst the pair were playing around on an at-home espresso machine that Craig had picked up from a supermarket and installed in his dad’s shed. Their first venue was a derelict space at the top of the High Street in their hometown of Uttoxeter. The company now employs 140 staff at eight sites over five counties.

They aim to bring people together in beautiful spaces, to connect over great products: speciality coffee, brunch and cocktails. They also have an online shop. The dream is to be as well-known in the hospitality world as companies like Red Bull.

Craig was introduced to Gospel Entrepreneurs by Gary Grant of The Entertainer. He then met Roy Crowne for a coffee in BEAR’s Nottingham store and attended the national gathering. BEAR was one of three businesses chosen by the keynote speaker Patrick Dixon to analyses and advise in one of the main sessions.
